UPCOMING WORKSHOPS BEING HOSTED AT MCRAE ART STUDIOS

Emily Ball in Orlando in January/February 2027

McRae Artists Debbie & Brian Miller and Lynn & John Whipple know that artists need new sources of inspiration and encouragement to keep their creative energies flowing. So they are thrilled to bring Emily Ball — an artist who has inspired them — “across the pond” from the UK to help you shake off the post-holiday doldrums and get the new year started off right.

This year Emily will be offering two workshops:

Still Life Re-imagined: When the Painted Still Life Encounters Collage, Improvisation and Play
January 29–31, 2027 | Friday to Sunday | 9am-4pm each day

The still life has a long tradition in art history, but this workshop invites you to expand the tradition with fresh approaches and insights.

Join Emily Ball for three days of painting, collage, improvisation and serious creative play. Working from objects that could range from the ordinary to the deeply personal, you’ll explore fresh ways to disrupt the expected, take creative risks, and allow your paintings to evolve in surprising directions.

Through demonstrations, prompts, collage, group discussion and plenty of hands-on painting, Emily will help you develop a richer visual language while learning to trust your instincts and embrace the creative possibilities of not knowing.

Come ready to experiment, play—and discover where your painting might take you next.

Open to advanced beginner artists (and beyond) working in oils, acrylics or mixed media.

Limited to 12 students & only a few spots available.
