Mimi Hwang
The paintings of Chinese American Artist Mimi Hwang are a poetic visual expression of her Asian heritage and Western birth.
Ms. Hwang is a self-taught artist and works with acrylics, oils, pastel, inks and graphite on canvas and paper in an abstract expressionist style, often using a quick and spontaneous process that utilizes brushes, rags, scrapers, and fingers. In 2017 Mills Gallery selected her for the Emerging Artists Summer exhibit. From April 2018 – April 2020, Ms. Hwang was a resident artist at FAVO (Faith Arts Village) and exhibited monthly on First Fridays to the public. In May 2020 Ms. Hwang joined the celebrated artists at McCrae Art Studio. Her work has exhibited at the Orlando City Arts Factory, Winter Park Art-at-Home, and First Thursday Orlando Museum of Art.
Ms. Hwang was born in Highland Park, Illinois, earned a degree in Psychology at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
