Chris Carr

Bio

Chris Carr prides himself in always looking at things differently while viewing the world with a unique perspective. These traits were the driving force in his Puddle Reflections® photo series. The series captures surreal landscapes from nothing more than reflections in puddles. Images which evoke the idea of two worlds, colliding in one image, all brought together from one small view.

His expectation for this series is for those who see it, to discover a new genre of photography. My images capture the world from a new perspective. A perspective that many of us never take the time to notice, one right below our feet. My photographs are taken in nature, are unedited, and are not manipulated. The true beauty is that the images are raw visuals, unchanged, allowing anyone to find the same imagery in the world around them. Upon first glance, the images will elicit a particular feeling, time, or place; only to draw the viewer in further, with each tiny detail, realized.

Chris currently lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife. As an award-winning artist, Chris travels throughout the US participating in Fine Art Festivals and various Gallery events.

Artist Statement

Puddle Reflections show new, surreal landscapes captured from reflections in puddles existing in the environment. The naturally occurring subjects are not altered, and the images are never edited or digitally manipulated. Each image strives in its own way to evoke an idea of two worlds colliding in one small, fleeting view.

In depicting the world from a new perspective, my hope is that the audience experiences the artworks as a new genre of photography that challenges their perception and minds. This occurs with a brief journey, from the viewer’s initial impression of surrealism or abstraction to the realization that the image comes from something they encounter all the time, right below their own feet, but rarely—if ever—take the time to notice. As an intriguing inherent contradiction, this realization comes as continuing exploration of each tiny detail gradually reveals the truth of the bigger picture.
